  23. About- wIRCd advanced was coded by ^RavenX^, I can be found on the DALnet IRC Network in
  24. the #wIRCd channel. This project was started to provide users with an easy to use GUI
  25. and to 'newbies' with more information and help on starting out.

  33. wIRCd Advanced is provided free of charge, it's freeware and may be used by anyone.
  34.  We are not liable for any damage caused by it (there shouldnt be any) but we must say that.
  35. This is NOT a wircd, it's simply an addon which uses existing wircds, so this is NOT
  36. under the GNU license, however the wircds it uses are, if you want the source for these then
  37. email me at wircda@Bellsouth.net or find me on IRC.

  39. For no reason will the source be released to anyone, and also for no reason shall this 
  40. program be charged for by anyone other than the coder, Russell Pope. this program shall
  41. not be altered, or changed in any ways without permission from the coder.

  43.    the wIRCd.data file and wircd.info files may be modified, but any damage done is your 
  44. fault.

  52. Anyone who has used an old wircd such as DALnet 4.6.7 knows how 'basic' the GUI 
  53. (Graphical User Interface) was, it's a simple white window - this solves that, it takes
  54. wircd.data files
  55.  (see 2.2 Using a wircd other than whats provided & 2.3 Whats wIRCd Data File Maker?)
  56. and gives the existing wircd a whole new, better GUI window made just for the win32 platform
  57. and also adds extra things such as easier config editing.

  59. At this time, this program will not work with wircd2000 Or Elite 2.* because they
  60. have a splash screen, if you want this changed then bug Dark-Prince to make a version
  61. for this and i'll change it over to .data format.

  67. General Use:
  68.  
  69.   This is a Windows IRC Server, it comes with DALnet's wIRCd version 4.6.7 Hub, although
  70. this is what comes with it, this can easly be changed as there are 7 other IRCds compatable
  71. with this, they can be gotten by clicking the 
  72. 'Click here if you would like to download a new data file such as Elite, or Unreal' button
  73. in the wircd advanced window.

  76. You can edit this by clicking the Config file button, at this time this program does not
  77. support rehash, you will have to /rehash the server from your IRC Client.

  79. Message of the day (MOTD):
  80. This can be changed by clicking the MOTD File button, this is updated automatically, no
  81. rehash is needed for motd changes.

  85. right now, because of a windows bug the tray feature does not work right, however what it 
  86. does is places a button above the start button in windows 9x, and removes it from the task
  87. bar - this will be fixed soon.

  93. Using an IRCd other than whats provided:

  95. this is actually simple.. this program uses .data files, all they are is wircds renamed
  96. from wircd.exe to wircd.data, if you make one you'll also need a wircd.info file,
  97. this is just a text file with one line like:

  99. DALnet v. 4.67 Ported by ^RavenX^ @ DALnet www.dal.net

  101. and so on.
  102. To make the .data use the program included to make it.

  109. Whats wIRCd Data File Maker?
  110.  
  111. This is a simple tool used to make .data files from the wircd.exe file
  112. simply place this in with a wircd.exe file and run it, and it will make a .data file,
  113. once done make a wircd.info file, which is a text file and include a 1 line
  114. description of the wircd, like:

  118. And so on, anything will do.
  119. then simply copy the wircd.info and wircd.data files in with wIRCd Advanced.

  124. Whats the 'server' bot I see connecting, and rehashing my server?

  126.   This is a bot which handles basic server needs such as when you click
  127. the rehash button, this bot is needed and must be able to /oper..
  128. If you make a new config file, please remeber to re-add it's O: line
  129. by clicking the bot menu, and selecting 'Re add IRCops'.
